Excerpt from Des Phénomènes de Synopsie (Audition Colorée): Photismes, Schèmes Visuels, Personnifications

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the phenomenon of synesthesia, a sensory experience where one sense is bundled with another, like seeing colors when you hear music. The author delves into the broader categories of synesthesia, like the more common types (like seeing colors or shapes in response to specific sounds) to the more unique (such as feeling physical sensations while smelling certain scents). The author suggests the existence of three principles which may explain synesthesia as a whole: habitual association, privileged association, and affective association. With these concepts, the author brings the book to its conclusion by explaining the value these principles have to the existence of synesthesia, with the aim of giving readers a better understanding of this curious human phenomenon.
