Excerpt from A Catalogue of Pamphlets, Tracts, Proclamations, Speeches, Sermons, Trials, Petitions From 1506 to 1700: In the Library of the Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn
In the case of undated items every effort has been made to ascertain an actual or approximate date. The greatest difficulty was experienced with the large collection of parliamentary petitions and cases; these rarely have a date, but a reference to the Journals of both Houses has in most cases resulted in finding some indication of date. In other cases the main catalogue of the British Museum Library, and Mr. Arber's Term Catalogues, have also been freely consulted. The above-mentioned Catalogue of the Thomason Tracts was not completed when this Catalogue was passing through the press, but the Principal Librarian kindly allowed me to examine the sheets, with satisfactory results in many cases. The authority for these added dates is given in footnotes.
