Excerpt from High School Reorganization, 1925-26
Extensive data, bearing on the high school situation in North Carolina as it existed in the school year 1923-24, were collected and tabulated for that year. These facts bear on the organization and administration, the course of study, the teaching program, the schedule of recitations and the student activities of 571 high schools in which approximately pupils were enrolled. The facts in hand, therefore, represent practically the total high school effort in the State at that time.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book introduces a reorganization plan for high schools in North Carolina. Driven by data collected from the 1923-24 school year, the author presents a detailed plan for rural high schools to enhance the subjects taught, better equip teachers, and reorganize how high schools are run to improve efficiency. The book discusses how high schools can be better organized, how teachers can improve their skills, and how to staff rural high schools with qualified teachers to provide a better education for rural students. The reorganization plan aims to prevent overcrowding in schools, and it provides a framework for simplifying the high school curriculum. The author suggests limiting foreign language options in order to make more room for practical subjects such as home economics and vocational agriculture, and discusses the best ways to implement this plan with cooperation from county boards of education, superintendents, and teachers. The book also includes specific program modifications for schools with different teacher counts and needs. These suggestions are designed to provide all high school students, regardless of their location, with a high-quality education that prepares them for college or the workforce.
