Twenty-four x bl/bl matings produced 459 progeny, all of them non - black and of the genotype e/bl as expected (table The 312 non-black and 110 black specimens re corded fram 24 e/bl x e/bl crosses are in close agreement with the expected ratio of 3 non~black z 1 black. The ex pected backnross ratio was obtained, with 408 non-black and 395 black offspring recorded from 31 e/bl x bl/bl pairings. Nine bl/bl x bl/bl mtings bred true, as all of their 151 off spring were black and of the genotype bl/bl.
