Excerpt from X-Ray Wavelength Conversion Tables and Graphs for Qualitative Electron Probe Microanalysis
Notwithstanding the complexity of some techniques used in mic'roprobe analysis, the making and interpreting of simple x-ray wavelength scans for qualitative elemental analysis is, in our experience, one of the most tedious tasks. Frequently, it is necessary to perform several wavelength scans on the same specimen; in the long wavelength region, numerous lines in higher orders may appear. A further complication arises from the fact that the spectrometers of our instrument are provided with crystal changers. Consequently, with the exception of the readings corresponding to lif crystals, which give the wavelength in angstrom units, the readings corresponding to an observed peak must be multiplied by factors characteristic of each crystal in order to be transformed into wavelengths.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book presents a comprehensive guide to X-ray wavelength conversion for qualitative electron probe microanalysis. It provides tables and graphs for crystal changers calibrated for LiF crystals, allowing users to determine the equivalent readings for lines that appear in wavelength scans. The book covers a wide range of elements, from boron to uranium, and includes higher-order reflections for each crystal. By combining the tables and graphs, users can quickly and easily identify lines, making qualitative elemental analysis more efficient. The author draws on their extensive experience to provide practical insights and guidance, positioning this book as an invaluable resource for researchers and professionals in the field of electron probe microanalysis. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
