Synopsis
This book is a compilation of the key activities and accomplishments of the Legislative Library and Archives for the year 1961. The Archives Branch, with just one staff member and one half-time typist, participated heavily in expanding programs in other departments. It also felt the results of the need for more space. It was recommended that more space be allocated to the Archives Branch to avoid researchers and staff being handicapped by the inadequate working area. The library staff were heavily used in 1961, so much that the Provincial Library and Archives staff felt the need for additional professional assistance. The report also speaks to the need for more government publications and debates from various departments and assemblies to be organized and made available to researchers, as well as the need for more storage space for older material so that any material that is little used can be placed in storage until needed. This book provides rich insight into the activities and recommendations for improvements within the Legislative Library and Archives for the year of 1961.
