Every county, and every community, wants capital and labor - immigration will supply both. Our Objects and plans are plainly stated. SO far as they meet with the approval of our brethren of the Press, we bespeak their encouragement and cor dial co-operation. We are indebted to the press for favorable notices, a few of which we insert. Inasmuch as we depend, to a certain extent, upon our exchanges for current local items of progress and improvement, It is manifestly to the interest of those communities. Desiring a faithful representation in this work to send us their county papers regularly.

To supply the demand for certain articles, which appeared in our first issue, we here republish a few pages. The present number has been enlarged by the addition' Of more than one hundred pages, embracing, among other articles, a short, con cise description Of every county in the State.

The January number will comprise entirely new matter, and will be made a valuable work of reference for citizens as well as strangers, with'a large portion devoted to the commercial claims and natural advantages of st. Louis, with' appropriate illustra tions.
