Excerpt from The Teaching of Morality: In the Family and the School
IN the following pages I have attempted rather to suggest than to describe the pro cedure appropriate to instruction in morality. The part played by such instruction in the whole system of moral education is first con sidered, and the application of the general principles of good teaching to this particular kind of teaching is later discussed. In the first and second chapters there will be found some analysis of the intellectual and instinct ive processes involved in the successful pur suit of moral wisdom. Finally, the subject matter of lessons in morality is treated under the two supplementary heads of Virtuous Character and Social Membership.
