Die Formen der glazialen Abrundung sind in den Küstengegenden in Hohen unter 600 m am ausgeprägtesten; zackige Berge unter dieser Höhe sind in küsten nahen Gebieten gewöhnlich die Ruinen pleistocäner Tuff und Schlackenkegel. Man kann gewisse Handpartien des Hochlands, so namentlich die Halbinseln im Norden und Osten Islands, als gewaltige Bundhockcr betrachten, die seewärts, auf der glazialen Leeseite, durch Einsenkung von Karen in Gipfel und Grate aufgelöst worden sind.
