Der Verfasser der hier nochmals abgedruckten Rectoratsrede täuscht sich nicht über die Umstände, welchen sie, obwohl ganz oder theilweise in Zeitschriften wiedergegeben, die Ehre einer zweiten Auflage verdankt. Es ist nicht das Thema der Rede selbst, welches ein Interesse in weiteren Kreisen ge weckt hätte, sondern die mit diesem Thema allerdings in naher Beziehung stehende, aber doch hier nur accessorisch berührte Frage, ob die Realschule erster Ordnung eine gleich erspriessliche Vorbereitung für das universitäts-studium gewähre wie das Gymna sium. Der Verfasser hat auf Grund der von ihm gemachten Erfahrungen diese Frage entschieden verneint.
