Unter den Aerzten hat Sédillot sich die Aufgabe gestellt, durch Beobachtungen in der opera tiven chirurgischen Praxis eine Entscheidung herbei zuführen. Er scheint geneigt slcll zu Gunsten des Aethers zu entscheiden, weil derselbe weniger rasch in seinen Wirkungen sich zeigt. So sehr ich den Be obachtungsgeist des trefflichen Sédillot achte, so muss ich doch nach eigener und nach fremder Erfah rung dem Chloroform einen unbedingten Vorzug vor dem Aether einraumci1.
