Synopsis
This book is a collection of lectures that demonstrate the existence of God through the truths of natural religion, the existence of the world, and the immortality of the soul. The author follows the received Catholic philosophy, presenting a simple outline of a grand argument, proving the existence of God through metaphysical, physical, and moral arguments. The author shows how the idea of God is distinct from all other conceptions involving perfection and innity, and could not have been formed from things sensible or human activity. The existence of a Being unproduced and necessarily existing, and the necessity of an intelligent agent as the cause of the order in the universe, are also explored. The book concludes by examining the existence of a universal moral law, demonstrating that it must come from a supreme Lawgiver, who is God.
