Excerpt from The Principles and Practice of Homœopathy
Cut off suddenly in the very flower of his age and at the height of his intellectual ability, he had not completed more than one-half of the task of correcting the proof-sheets of this colossal work. But fortunately the whole of the manuscript was in the printer's hands, so that the work is complete just as it would have appeared had its author lived to see it through the press. His family having confided to me the labour of love to complete the task its author was destined to leave unfinished, I have scrupulously avoided making any alterations or additions to the author's text. My task has been confined to proof-cor roeting and index-making, so that the reader may be assured that he has the work exactly as it would have been under the author's own superintendence.
