This book explores the potential of aerial navigation. The author, who had no personal experience with ballooning and never went up in a balloon, became interested in the subject after reading about a contraption that was going to be built in Paris. Since the invention of the balloon, attempts have been made to steer them, but they were all unsuccessful, due to a misunderstanding of the challenges involved.
