This book investigates the nature and cause of a fatal and devastating disease that has swept through swine herds across America, killing thousands of animals. The author, an experienced veterinarian, conducted extensive research to identify the disease, which he ultimately determined to be a contagious and infectious plague affecting both swine and humans who come into contact with infected animals. The book delves into the symptoms, postmortem appearances, and microscopic investigations of the disease, exploring the varying degrees to which it can affect different organs and systems in swine. The author also discusses the importance of understanding the root cause of the disease, emphasizing that knowing how it spreads is the key to developing effective prevention and treatment strategies. The book's insights on the nature and transmission of swine plague have had a significant impact on veterinary medicine and public health, contributing to the development of measures to control and prevent the spread of this deadly disease.
