The-work, originally in three volumes, is now comprised in two; and the narratives of the campaigns have been generally given entire.
The Gregorian has been throughout sub stituted for the republican calendar, and a table of French weights and measures annex ed. Some of the foot-notes by the translator serve as explanations to the text, and others have been added, more with a view to elicit inquiry (in doctrines advanced by the author than to promulgate facts or Opinions which are new or uncommon.
