Excerpt from De Sculptura: Works in the City; Some Ongoing Questions
Book relates to Buch which comes from the German Buche the beech tree. Plates of beechwood were carved on one Side, for the making of the first printed books of Europe.
This book is a first partial documentation of more than one work in which I am engaged. Word of mouth has been its continuing means. The way of talking by people who arrived by chance, and those who somehow knew of the work, tended to be interrelated by their choices of words; in part that makes this printing possible as another series of questions.

This book delves into the artistic philosophy and practice of a renowned figure in contemporary art, offering a unique glimpse into their creative process and the evolution of their work. Spanning various projects from the late 1960s to the mid-1980s, the book showcases a diverse range of site-specific installations and interventions that engage with the surrounding environment and the people who encounter them. The author's artistic approach is deeply rooted in the concept of "active presence," emphasizing the ongoing and evolving nature of their work. Rather than creating static objects or installations, they focus on fostering dynamic interactions between materials, spaces, and individuals. The book explores this concept through detailed descriptions of projects that incorporate elements such as light, water, natural materials, and urban settings. Central to the author's work is the idea of openness and engagement with the unknown. Their projects often invite participation from the public, allowing individuals to experience and interpret the work in their own unique ways. The book highlights this participatory aspect through accounts of projects that transform everyday spaces into sites of artistic encounter, blurring the boundaries between art and life. By examining the author's artistic journey and the theoretical underpinnings of their practice, this book provides valuable insights into the evolving nature of contemporary art and its potential to create meaningful connections between individuals and their surroundings.
