Excerpt from The Elliptic Modular Functions Associated With the Elliptic Norm Curve E7
The cases considered by Dr. Miller are relatively simple due to the fact that the modular group is of genus zero. In this paper the case n 7 for which the genus is three, one which is fairly typical of the general case, is subjected to a similar investigation. Many of the results may be extended easily to the case where n is any prime number, or in some features to the case where n is any odd num ber. In this discussion from the standpoint of geometry and group theory, we derive the well known elliptic modular functions attached to this group as well as some new ones and obtain a number of their algebraic properties.

This book presents the elliptic modular functions associated with E7, an elliptic norm curve in space, and their fundamental role in defining an elliptic parameter where elliptic refers to a quartic curve, octahedral, tetrahedral, or icosahedral form. The author, a notable mathematician of their time, derives well-known elliptic modular functions from the modular group congruent to the identity (mod n), with a focus on the case where n=7. A comprehensive study of the groups and subgroups associated with E7 is presented. The book also delves into the family of rational curves in 83 and S, the net of quadrics in S, and the loci in S. Through geometric and group theoretic approaches, the author establishes algebraic properties of these functions, providing new insights into the mathematical landscape of elliptic modular functions.
