Synopsis
This book presents an experimental inquiry into the principal theory of actions stimulating medicines have upon the human body and offers a new perspective challenging established medical ideas of the time. The author claims that established medical thought posits that all stimulating medicines operate in one specific manner on a single system of the body, regardless of the actual medicine used. The author designed experiments to test this theory using various medications and subjects and found that there is no evidence of a singular mode of action among the stimulants tested. Moreover, the results of the experiments indicate that the primary reaction to these medications is a spike in arterial activity that precedes other reactions. The author argues that this theory, if proven correct for a larger sample group, could significantly change medical approaches to treating disease and illness.
