Excerpt from Hydrogeology of Glacial Deposits of the Mahomet Bedrock Valley in East-Central Illinois
A number of investigations in east-central Illinois by the State Geo 10gica1 and Water Surveys have aided in the search for ground-water supplies. These earlier reports have been used as reference material or have been utilized indirectly in preparing this report.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the hydrogeology of glacial deposits in the Mahomet Bedrock Valley of east-central Illinois. The author utilizes quantitative mapping techniques to determine the three-dimensional configurations of aquifers within the drift. The author also examines empirical relationships between subsurface geologic conditions and aquifer coefficients to facilitate extrapolation of hydrologic data. The author discusses the occurrence and distribution of water-yielding deposits, focusing on the highly permeable sand and gravel aquifers within and adjacent to the buried Mahomet Bedrock Valley. The author also analyzes vertical variability patterns of sand and gravel units within the drift and evaluates the relationships between geologic characteristics and aquifer characteristics. The book concludes that quantitative hydrogeologic evaluation can be effectively applied to unconsolidated earth materials and the results provide valuable insights for ground-water development.
