Synopsis

A curation of Halifax Parish Church memorials that brings local history to life.

This book presents the monumental inscriptions found in Halifax Parish Church, offering readable transcriptions and notes that illuminate the town’s past. It is a useful resource for genealogists, historians, and anyone exploring how family and community memories are preserved in stone.

Inside you’ll find careful transcriptions of grave markers, occasional notes on their dates and names, and context taken from historical sources. The work includes addenda, commentary on unusual inscriptions, and references to related records that help place every stone in its proper history. Plates and descriptions help you visualize the inscriptions as they were seen in the church.

  • Conditions and locations of inscriptions as recorded in the church
  • Historical notes that connect people to dates and places in Halifax
  • Addenda and discussions of stones with missing or altered details
  • Illustrations and plate references to support the transcriptions

Ideal for readers of local history, genealogy, and architectural heritage who want a precise, tramline view of Halifax’s memorial inscriptions.
