Synopsis
This book details the use of parallelism, where ideas are conveyed through matching phrasing or structure, in the scriptures. First discussed by Bishop Lowth, this structuring was found to be prevalent in much of the New Testament by Bishop Jebb. Rather than being simply poetic or rhythmic, parallelism is used to organize and convey information, such as the Ten Commandments or the seven Christian graces. Through Biblical examples and analysis, the author demonstrates how parallelism was employed to teach, organize, and illuminate complex topics and ideas. This book provides valuable guidance for the study of scripture.
