For instantaneous work a lens of large aper turc should be used, such as the rapid rectilinear or the rapid symmetrical lens, and the largest stop that will give fair definition should be used, and then the shutters can be used to give very short exposures, a desideratum when moving figures are in the immediate foreground. In re gard to the camera legs, they should be solid, since a sudden gust of wind will do more harm during a short exposure than it would when the exposure is pro longed.
