Let it not jeem flrange to any Per/on, that I recede from the Opinions which are generally received in the Schools, and prefer to the Sentiments of whole Univerfities the new Opinions of fame modern Divines, which can har taxed as novel, when they are found conformable to the Ancient Dofiors the Church. Thit peak in reference to that Paflage, where I handle the Difitute which was formerly between the Divines of Louvam and Dovvaygand the gefiiits of that Country, concerning the injpiration of the facred Books. The Dollars of both Faculties cenfiired the Propo/itions of the ye/uites of Louvain in a manner very injurious to the whole Society. But after a due examination on which their grave Gentlemen founded their C enfiire, I could their Authority alone a fiifiicient Kale to oblige me to'afli'nt.
