This book presents a series of opinions written by Judge Herman P. Goebel in cases of importance and arising in Probate Court practice, from the beginning of his term as Probate Judge in 1890. Many of the cases had no adjudication in this state and very few had ever reached the Supreme Court. Judge Goebel’s opinions written in these cases, which cover a wide range of questions constantly arising in such practice, became accepted as sufficient apology for the publication of those decisions. The author placed the manuscripts in the hands of W. H. Whittaker Esq., of the Cincinnati Bar, who edited and arranged them for publication in the form now presented. In all instances where cases have been reviewed by higher courts, their action is stated in a footnote, and in cases where the opinion of the reviewing court is published, a reference to such publication can also be found in footnotes.
