La forme primitive de son nom était probablement n(3) qu'on prononçait Kruche ou Küche. Ce mot Krug signifie en français cruche, et ce dernier mot est devenu le nom le plus habituel de Pierre, le tailleur d'histoires. C'était d'une part, une lecture assez naturelle, en France, du mot allemand, et, d'autre part, la signification littérale de ce mot. Cruche a donc été une altération française du mot Krug Kriche en a été une autre, celle - ci consignée dans des actes à Genève, et Vase était le synonyme du mot cruche.
