Ma se questo mondo logicamente è uno e concorde, esteticamente e scisso, perchè non è insieme terra e cielo, ma è ora l'uno, ora l'altro, imperfetti ambidue. Il fan tasma è spesso simile più ad un' allegoria, che ad una realtà, ed è stazionario, senza successione e senza svi luppo, senza storia. La realtà è pura scienza, in forma scolastica. Si può dire che quando in questo mondo 00 mmcia la realtà, allora appunto muore la poesia, s' ina ridisce la fantasia e il sentimento. È un difetto organico di questo mondo, che resiste a tutti gli sforzi dell' arte, resiste a Dante.
