Excerpt from The Record of the Hampden-Sydney Alumni Association, Vol. 31: July 1957
Cleghorn is a lady of great charm and attrae liveness. Visiting alumni always look forward to meet ing her in her office where she was always gracious and cordial. She has been a great asset in the life of the College and has won the admiring friendship of all who have come to know her.
What makes her achievement the more remarkable is the fact that she had known nothing of the College until she came. She is a native of England and spent much time in India when that country was a colonial possession of the British Empire, upon which the sun never set.
Mrs. Cleghorn's resignation will bring regret to alumni everywhere whether they knew her personally or not, and real sorrow to her many friends both at hampden-sydney and in Farmville. It is a. Distinct loss to the College.
