Excerpt from Geometry of Four Dimensions
The object and plan of this book are explained in the Introduction (page I had hoped to give some account of the recent literature, but this would have delayed work that has already taken several years. I have prepared a list of technical terms as found in a few of the more familiar writings, very incomplete, and, I fear, not with out errors. The list may be of service, however, to those who wish to consult the authors referred to; it will also indicate something of the confusion that exists in a subject whose nomenclature has not become fixed. It has been necessary for me to introduce a considerable number of terms, but most of these have been formed in accordance with simple or well-established principles, and no attempt has been made to distinguish them from the terms that have already been used.
