Synopsis

The book examines the language, religion, socio-political thought, philosophy, and mythology of the Mahābhārata to support this claim, arguing that the integration of sacred epic and didactic work was not accidental, but was essential for the authors of the Mahābhārata and their audiences. This approach to the Mahābhārata opens up new insights into the poem's structure and the ways in which it was composed.
