Mariano Jos de Larra (Madrid, 1809-Madrid, 1837), Espa a. Hijo de un m dico del ej rcito franc s, en 1813 tuvo que huir con su familia a ese pa s tras la retirada de las fuerzas bonapartistas expulsadas de la pen nsula. Como dato sorprendente cabe decir que a su regreso a Espa a apenas hablaba castellano. Estudi en el colegio de los escolapios de Madrid, despu s con los jesuitas y m s tarde derecho en Valladolid. Siendo muy joven se enamor de una amante de su padre y este incidente marc su vida. En 1829 se cas con Josefa Wetoret, la uni n result tambi n un fracaso. Las relaciones ad lteras que mantuvo con Dolores Armijo se reflejan en el drama Mac as (1834) y en la novela hist rica El doncel de don Enrique el Doliente (1834), inspiradas en la leyenda de un trovador medieval ejecutado por el marido de su amante. Trabaj, adem s, en los peri dicos El Espa ol, El Redactor General y El Mundo y se interes por la pol tica. Aunque fue diputado, no ocup su esca o debido a la disoluci n de las Cortes. Larra se suicid el 13 de febrero de 1837, tras un encuentro con Dolores Armijo.
