Excerpt from B. Holly's System of Fire Protection and Water Supply, for Cities and Machinery Manufactured and Warranted Superior to Any Other, by Holly Manufacturing Company, Lockport, N. Y The engine and retort house of the extensive oil refinery of Messrs. Burgess Bros, of this city, took fire about seven o'clock last evening to state that the progress of the fire 'was arrested in the buil originated, containing the engines, boilers-and machinery. Th of the Water Works Company are about feet from the refln cient quantity of hose was promptly connected, and a continuo water was poured upon the storehouses, out-buildings, offices, house was a large quantity of oil, naptha, &c., which was all saved. And we also think the public are largely indebted to Holly, of Lockport, who invented and also constructed the machinery for Company.
