Synopsis
This book is a report on the technical programs carried out by the Factory Automation Systems Division (FASD) of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in 1993. These programs are part of NIST's mission to promote America's manufacturing industry through measurement services and research. The focus is on developing and testing computer software, manufacturing systems, and system integration necessary for successful implementation within the United States manufacturing community. Through partnerships with standards bodies, government organizations, and institutions, the author carries out the complex research involved in such integration.
