On sait qu'une inscription khmère a été trouvée à Sukho thai et rapportée à Bangkok, en i83h par le futur roi Maha Mongkut; elle est conservée dans le préau de la Vat Phra Keo (n° Mio). Comme il est fait mention dans le texte de la ville même où elle fut trouvée, il n'y a pas de doute qu'elle soit restée in situ jusqu'à son transfert dans la capitale moderne. Cette stèle est un témoin incontestable du rayonnement cambodgien; car, s'il n'y est plus fait mention du grand empire de la vallée du Mékong, si elle est tout entière consacrée à la louange d'un prince de cette race, relativement nouvelle dans la péninsule, qui porta les premiers coups aux colonisateurs hindous de la vallée du Mékong, il n'en reste pas moins avéré que, vers le x1v° siècle de notre ère, à l'époque où les mwang... thai arri vaient à la civilisation, les lettres cambodgiennes étaient tenues en honneur par leurs chefs.
