Pendant que j'y étais occupé, ont paru la traduction française du livre de M. Mach et les travaux de M. Unhem. J'ai largement profité, à tous les points de vue le lecteur pourra s'en con vaincre), de ces beaux Ouvrages. Les études de M. Duhem ont transformé la question des origines de la Mécanique moderne en faisant mieux connaître les sources profondes d'où elle découle; j'ai naturellement tenu compte de ses dé couvertes.
