Excerpt from Poems of Sentiment and Humor
In true humbleness I wish to offer thanks for the recognition which my youthful works have received from the many readers who have taken time to peruse my early efforts at versification. Heeding the dictates of my heart I have en deavored to portray the humorous and senti mental emotions which my nature endowed. Tak ing my share of the poet's license, I refrain from further expression by quoting the Opinion of my. Brother, 0. Gordon Due, which appeared in the preface of my pamphlet issued in the years 1901 and 1902.
