Synopsis

From factory floors to the heart of a social movement, a powerful true story of persistence and change.

This is the autobiography of Adelheid Popp, a working woman who rises from poverty in late 19th‑century Vienna to become a recognized socialist leader. It candidly portrays daily life in a crowded factory, the costs of balance between motherhood, marriage, and public duty, and the quiet courage it takes to speak up for others. The book offers a clear window into the struggles and sacrifices of women who built a movement from the ground up.

• Experience the realities of forced long hours, tight budgets, and shared meals in a working community.
• See how self‑education, resilience, and solidarity shaped a woman’s path to public leadership.
• Learn how personal life, health, and family responsibilities intersect with political work.
• Understand the social and historical context that gave rise to organized labor and women’s rights movements.

Ideal for readers of historical memoirs, social history, and biographies that illuminate the lives behind a broader movement.
