Synopsis
This book started as an analysis of the shortcomings of previous methods for measuring eyes. The author, a dedicated physician, recognized that eyes removed from their sockets were not reliable models for understanding how the eye functions in a living being. To that end, the author created a device to measure the eye without removing it, the Ophthalmometer. The Ophthalmometer provided new levels of accuracy and granularity for studying the eye and for diagnosing vision problems.
