Durch die Wiener Kongress - Akte wurde der zwischen den Kantonen Solothurn und Neuenburg liegende Theil des frühern Biathnms Basel mit dem Gebiet des Kantons Bern vereinigt. Als Grundlage der neuem Grenzbereinigung zwischen Bern und Frankreich diente die letzte zwischen dem Fürstbischof und Frankreich in den Jahren 1780 - 1789 vereinbarte Vermarehung. Das Protokoll der Bereinigung zwischen Bern und Frankreich wurde unterzeichnet in Basel am 12. Juli 1826.
