Ebenso bestimmt und entschieden wird die gütige Vorsehung Gottes und die sittliche Freiheit des Menschen betont. „alles, was Gott gemacht hat, ist gut, sehr gut gut ist das Leben, sehr gut der Tod; gut ist das Glück, sehr gut das Missgeschick, die Leiden, da der Mensch durch sie gebessert wird und dadurch zur ewigen Seligkeit kommt; gut ist der Trieb zu den Tugenden, sehr gut der Trieb zum Bösen; denn nur durch freie Wahl und durch Ankämpfen gegen Hindernisse erhält die Tugend ihren Werth. Dahin gehört auch das Wort, der Mensch müsse eine Neuschöpfung an sich voll ziehen; wie man andere Naturerzeugnisse in ihrem Rohzustand durch die Arbeit veredelt, so müsse auch der Mensch sich sittlich veredeln, und sich nicht in dem Rohzustande lassen, worin er von Natur aus sich befindet.
