J'ai ajoute a cet expose l'opinion de quelques auteurs; d'autres y ont ete traites plus amplement, mais dans son ensemble cette partie est restee a peu pres conforme a l'original. La seconde partie au contraire est presque toute nouvelle; il est vrai que dans ma reponse 11ndiquais deja ce qui exigeait, selon moi, une etude approfondie du rapport entre la criminalite et les conditions economiques. L'espace d'un an fixe par la faculte etait un temps trop limite pour donner plus qu'un apercu succint de la question. J'ai laisse l'expose tel quel sans le refondre dans la seconde partie devenue a present la plus importante de l'oeuvre bien que je sente qu'on pourrait faire des objections, surtout quant a la forme; cependant je ne les ai pas crues assez importantes pour exiger un remaniement complet du travail.
