J'ai à m'excuser, netant pas philosophe, de vous entretenir d'un sujet de philosophie. Et quel sujet, grands dieux Sans aucun doute, l'un de ceux qui paraissent le plus particulièrement choisis pour décourager l'audace. Voilà bien des siècles que les hommes dissertent et discutent sur le fatalisme et sur la liberté Leurs querelles n'ont pas retenti seulement dans les écoles. Elles ont eu des réactions qui se manifestèrent dans la politique, dans la genèse des croyances religieuses et jusque sur les champs de bataille. En dépit de tant d'efforts, la question du libre arbitre continue à surgir devant nous, à la façon d' un sphynx au regard énigmatique. Si, malgré mon incompétence, j'ose en parler aujour d'hui, c'est qu'il n'est point d'homme, ayant quelque habitude.
