Excerpt from All Spanish Method, Vol. 2: Método Directo para Aprender el Español
The essentials of grammar are taught for the most part inductively, and with much drill on important matters. After the student has had some practice, the necessary rules are given, but in such form that they may be omitted by teachers who prefer to present the subject without them or who wish to use the book as a reader in connection with a formal grammar.
Some of the thinking has been left for the student to do. Not everything is explained to him. That he has some imagination is taken for granted. Not to do so would be to leave him with nothing to do but to learn lessons and that is not education.
