This book contains elegant patterns in wide and narrow Laces, Tidies, Quilts, etc. They have all been tested by an experienced knitter. The materials used are - Nos. 100, 90, 80, 70, 50, 40, Marshall's Linen Thread or Common Spool Cotton, also Knitting Silk which comes in half ounce balls, all shades.
Fine Saxony Yarn, done with coarse sock needles, makes a very pretty edging.

The following directions will aid in knitting the various patterns contained in this book.
Terms Used In Knitting.
To cast - Make a loop in your thread, and place it on the needle in your left hand; when, with your right hand needle, knit this stitch; repeat this until the desired number of stitches have been made.
To increase - If one stitch only is to be increased, bring the thread between the needles and knit the following stitch; this will make an open stitch or hole in the following row. If a close increase is to be made, pick up the loop below the next stitch to be knitted, and knit it. To increase one stitch when the row is being seamed the thread will be in front of the needle; pass it quite around the needle to the front again.
To decrease - If one stitch only is to be decreased, knit two stitch...
