Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book of poetry belongs to the Victorian era and presents the author's work on themes of domesticity, nature, mythology, and medievalism. The descriptive language and evocative imagery unveil spiritual longings and meditations on themes of love, friendship, and mortality, often through fantastical or allegorical subjects. The author draws inspiration from the Bible and medieval literature, but her keen observation of the natural world and domestic life is a significant aspect of these poems. One central theme that emerges is the role of women within the structures of domestic life and the natural world, examined through the lens of imaginative, mythological, and historical female figures. Ultimately, this book's ideas and imagery invite the reader to reflect on their own sorrows and joys, and their place in a larger spiritual and natural order.
