Synopsis

Excerpt from The Origin and Significance of Hegel's Logic: A General Introduction to Hegel's System

IT will greatly facilitate the appreciation of the history of Hegel's views on Logic if at the outset we give some indication of his attitude to the problem of philosophy as a whole, the direction from which he approached philosophy, and the primary influences which helped to determine the course of his mental development. Hegel's earliest conception of the nature of Logic has at least this in common with his latest, that Logic is no mere appendage or accident in his general system, but an integral element of it. The statement, therefore, of his general philosophical point of view will throw no inconsiderable light on his theory of Logic.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book analyzes the philosopher G.W.F. Hegel's progression from a religious and humanist perspective to speculative idealism. The author argues that Hegel's views on logic were a vital component of his holistic philosophical system. They emerged from a synthesis of Immanuel Kant's philosophy and Greek thought. The author highlights Hegel's use of dialectics and his conception of the Absolute as Geist, or Spirit. By examining the historical development of Hegel's philosophy, from his early writings to his mature system, the book sheds light on the profound themes of individuality, the state, and the nature of ultimate reality. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
