The definition of double entry presented and discussed here is a representa tion of the concept behind the activities of the modern accountant which are called double entry accounting. This definition is not suggested as the reasoning of any individual accountant. It is offered, however, as a definition which will produce the results presently obtained, when combined with present methods and techniques of accounting.
