It has been said by the outside world, and no doubt with considerable truth, you have bad men in your ranks, but it should be remembered that a black sheep may find his way into any flock perhaps in consequence of the portals or barriers being insufficiently or improperly guarded, or from some other unforeseen cause. It is not fair that the Craft or its principles should be therefore condemned. Our endeavour is to extend our privileges to good and worthy men alone Masonry makes good men better, and as it draws its inspiration from the Bible, its lessons are pure.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book is a compilation of primary source documents relating to the formation of the province of Ontario. It opens with an address by the Deputy Grand Master of Canada, and concludes with an address by the local Grand Master. In between are the documents that were submitted to the Grand Lodge of Canada requesting a charter to form a new provincial Grand Lodge for Canada West (which was later renamed Ontario). These include letters from local lodges as well as other documents from Grand Lodges in the US who were invited to attend the inaugural assembly. The book will be of most interest to Masonic scholars and those interested in the history of fraternal organizations and early Canadian history.
