Excerpt from Roman Catholic Claims
But there is another method of dealing with the Roman claim. It is by strengthening the fabric of a positive Catholicity, which is not Roman. Such a defensive method it has been my aim to follow in this book. So far as attack is a necessary part of defence, it has not been possible to avoid it. But my purpose is positive, not negative - to build, not to destroy.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the historical and theological underpinnings of the Anglican Church, positioning it as a "via media" - a middle way - between Protestantism and Roman Catholicism. The author contends that the Anglican Church represents a more comprehensive and balanced expression of Christian faith and practice than either of the aforementioned traditions. The text explores the concept of Church unity, arguing that it is primarily rooted in a shared spiritual life derived from Christ, rather than in uniformity of outward organization or governance. The author critiques the Roman Catholic Church's understanding of unity as overly focused on hierarchical structure and Papal authority, suggesting that this emphasis has led to an incomplete and unbalanced representation of Christian truth. This book offers a compelling defence of the Anglican Church's unique position within the broader Christian landscape. By drawing upon Scripture, historical analysis, and theological reasoning, the author illuminates the Anglican Church's potential to embody a Catholicism that is both faithful to tradition and receptive to the challenges and opportunities of the present age.
