Excerpt from An Easter Vacation in Greece: With Lists of Books on Greek Travel and Typography, and Time-Tables of Greek Steamers and Railways
An outline of the traveller's route. My object in so doing has been to direct the attention of future travellers to some of the best sources of informa tion as to the various routes, and to facilitate reference to such sources. It is extremely difficult to make much use of such a mine of information as Welcker's journal, without the help of a clue to its contents like that which I have tried to provide. I have also attempted to supply a classified conspectus of the literature of Greek Topography, and of some other subjects that are worth studying in connexion with Greek travel. In this part of my work I have had the advantage of using the carefully selected library of the Cambridge Museum of Classical Archaeology, which includes that of the greatest of Greek topographers, Colonel Leake.
